While it is true that there are people and experiences that challenge your ability to be happy, it is not true that they actually take your happiness away. When you feel the wave of unhappiness begin to wash over you, catch yourself, and choose to place your focus on the undeniable gifts in your life. Getting grateful in the face of difficult people and circumstances brings you back to reality in a positive way, and positions you to take the reins of your happiness. Outside forces can add to or make happiness easier to maintain, but it is truly an inside job – thus the term, “your happiness”.
