Coaching Tip #906

by Marcus

Focusing on what’s “wrong” – your problems, what you don’t have or have lost – dampens your positive outlook on life, and makes these things more insurmountable in your own mind. It is essential to be aware of your circumstances, however, giving more of your attention to what you do not want anchors you to unhappiness, and keeps you from moving toward what you do want. Being grateful for all the gifts life brings you, even the ones in “ugly packages”, goes a long way in brightening your outlook. Focus the vast majority of your attention on solutions to the situations you find displeasing, free yourself from what was, and sail in the direction of what can be.
